Marrello hitting the links in Florida

Rookie coach Mel Marrello who has struggled for the first half of the season sporting a perfect 0 and 10 record and facing a quick ride out of town decided to pack his bags and hunt down Chris Ashton in Florida and start the trade talks to turn around the Leaf Nation. When asked about tampering Marrello was quick to pint out that the PHN charter does not carry over the border and well we cannot print the rest.  Marrello and this PHN reporter shared expressos and veals in a South Beach local made famous for the rag tag celebrities that party there, but yet, it was Marrello that the owners were impressed by.  It appears our PHNPA President has instilled the fear into more than just PHN fans with a potential lockout, but now into the rich and famous of South Beach.  When asked why that was, he simply referred me to the one, the only, The Godfather.

The Leaf nation is on the road to a massive turn around, the 10 to 3  thrashing last night is a sign of the future of this franchise.  It’s future really will be dictated by how healthy the organization stays.  The Di Iorio’s are returning to health, and Ashton was the spark required to kick them into gear.

Ashton's LEGO Angry Bird's Creation

But some have wondered if Ashton is indeed that spark that is required.  None to have a ton of talent and be one of the best when he is in the game, Ashton has suffered a lot lately from off-ice distractions.  In a recent ESPN article, Ashton was quoted as saying that his long-time interested in LEGO and getting his LEGO creations recognized in a publication has totally consumed his off-season.  Could this be his Achille’s heel? Could taunts and trash talk on the ice to this effect put him off his game?

In any case, we salute the Leafs first win of the season!

See you on the ice!
