WINTER 2011-2012 SEASON

Equipment

All players must wear full equipment, including CSA approved helmets. Face protection (masks, visors etc.) is optional but recommended. No player will be permitted to play if they are not properly dressed.

General Rules

No redline.
No-touch (automatic) icing
Hurry up face-offs at all times

Game structure

3:00 minute warm-up. Time starts as soon as the Zamboni door is closed and WILL RUN into the first period time.
Period 1: 15 minutes running time. Last 30 seconds is stopped.
Period 2: 15 minutes running time. Last 30 seconds is stopped.
Period 3: 15 minutes running time. Last minute is stopped.
Stop time is waived upon a 5 goal spread.

Spares

If you find yourself unable to make a game, please be sure to inform your team rep. To make sure that teams are not put at a disadvantage, we ask that you kindly inform us if you will be away so that we can get spare players if necessary.

Penalties

Penalties are two minutes each, running time.
Standard rules of hockey apply.

BLAKBAK PHN WINTER 2011-2012 Penalty Policy

If  a player reaches 30 minutes in penalties in the regular season, they will be automatically suspended one (1) game, which is served the following week, whether it is regular season or playoffs. The Commissioners reserve the right to extend this suspension to multiple games depending on the severity of the penalties accumulated.

Upon return to the regular season, if the player reaches 10 minutes or more, he is suspended for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

Once the playoffs begin, penalty minutes are reset to zero.  If you reach 12 minutes in penalties, you are suspended for automatically for one (1) game with the possibility of the remainder of the season, depending on the types of penalties you have accumulated (at the discretion of the Commissioners). Upon return, you have 4 minutes in penalties before you are suspended for the remainder of the playoffs automatically.

These suspensions are automatic.  Furthermore, the Commissioners reserve the right to extend any suspension.  All decisions are final and no appeals are allowed.

EXCEPTIONS
Any stick infraction (high sticking, slashing, and cross-checking) will result in a four minute minor penalty. A second stick infraction in the same game will result in another four minute minor and an immediate game ejection. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however the team will be shorthanded for the time posted on the board.

Any stick infraction (high sticking, slashing, and cross-checking) deemed to be a major penalty will result in a five minute penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following two games. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

High-sticking the puck results in an immediate 2 minute penalty, and the player will sit the full 2 minutes, with no penalty to the team.  Furthermore, if you attempt to high-stick the puck (whether you make contact or not) and it is considered dangerous by the referee, a four (4) minute high sticking penalty can be called at their discretion which will put your team a man down.

Any BODY CONTACT (CHECKING) penalty will be a FOUR (4) minute penalty.  Any body contact (checking) penalty that is deemed to be pre-mediated or intended will be an automatic 10 minute game misconduct and game ejection.

Any body contact penalty (including charging, kneeing, elbowing and boarding) will result in a four minute minor, served by the offending player. A second body contact penalty in the same game will result in a four minute penalty and an immediate game ejection and the player may be subjected to further disciplinary action.

Any body contact penalties (including charging, kneeing, elbowing and boarding) deemed to be a major will result in a five minute penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following game. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Any player who receives a penalty for hitting from behind will receive a five minute major penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following game.

Players who are assessed match penalties (deliberate intent to injure, spearing, butt-ending, head-butting) will receive a five minute major penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following four games. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Verbal abuse towards other players, officials or league representatives will not be tolerated. At the referee’s discretion, he reserves the right to issue ten minute misconducts or gross misconducts as he sees fit. Players receiving gross misconduct penalties may be subject to further disciplinary action.

Any player who accumulates 6 minutes in penalties in one game will receive an automatic game ejection. Please keep in mind that stick infractions are 4 minute penalties.

Any attempt to engage another player in a fight, whether it is verbal or physical, will result in a gross misconduct and an immediate game ejection; the player will be subject to further disciplinary action.

Any player who engages in fighting activity will receive a five minute major penalty and an automatic game ejection. The offending player(s) will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following four games and may be suspended PERMANENTLY from the Pro Hockey Network. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Players who are removed from the league for serious misconduct WILL NOT be eligible for a refund.

ANY RULING BY THE COMMISSIONERS IS FINAL

Spares

No spares will be allowed in the playoffs, period.  If there is a special circumstance (vacation and work and travel and your anniversary don’t count!) it must be brought to the Comissioners attention ahead of time.

If you have only 5 players, your team will default the game and the result will be a 3-0 loss.

Timeouts

There are no timeouts in regular season play.
One thirty second timeout per team per game will be permitted during the playoffs.

 Registration

The PHN reserves the right to cancel any players registration before the season if such player is deemed to be  an individual who violates our NO FIGHTING, NO ROUGH PLAY or UNSPORTSMANLIKE conduct policies.

Refund Policy –  We have a NO REFUND policy.  Once you have payed and registered, no refunds will be issued.  Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and only by paying in full do you reserve a spot in the league.
